The Company

Ecobrasa is a Portuguese company created in 2002, with an activity focused on the commercialization of firing products in the area of barbecue/grilling and home heating.

Our Core Business is based on charcoal trading, based on diversification market segments and in the multi-brand bagging service, although the manufacture and ecological charcoal (Biocharcoal) are becoming increasingly significant.

The company is present in two locations: the head office in the North of the country (Maia), one unity of manufacturing in Mira and packaging in Torres Vedras.

Ecobrasa is present in the different distribution channels: Big distribution, Wholesale, Retailer and Horeca.

History

May 2002

Ecobrasa starts its activity in the northern region of Portugal, firstly dedicating to the commercialization charcoal/grill charcoal, for household consumption.

February 2004

Begins the international acquisition of charcoals, establishing relationships with the world's largest producing countries.

January 2009

Diversifying the offer and increasing its range, Ecobrasa becomes the main provider in catering and hotel services, as well as retail channel (North zone).

January 2010

Expands its activity to the Center of the national territory, with rigorous screening of different imported products, directed to different market segments where it operates.

January2012

Extends the activity to the entire national territory, based on the commitment of rigor by product quality, packaging services, logistics and aftersales services.

January 2013

Beginning of exports to some European countries.

May2014

Exports now represent 15% of sales.

May2015

Ecobrasa wins the representation of the two main brands of briquettes of ecological charcoal worldwide.

February2015

Distinction by IAPMEI for the quality of its performance and risk profile as SMCs Leader 2015.

December2016

It exceeds the threshold of 5 000 000 € in sales.

January 2017

Ecobrasa acquires a factory, starting that way the process of integration of greener and more sustainable products, starting to produce biocharcoal and creating a private label of green firelighters.

January 2018

Maintaining sustainable growth, Ecobrasa increases its sales volume in 29%, consolidating the domestic market and increasing the exports to 21%.

January 2019

Ecobrasa begins 2019 with more responsibility, has been elected Choice of Consumer and Choice of Professionals in the Charcoal Category.

January2020

Again elected consumer choice.
